Town Trails for children - introduction and guidance

This is a new idea for a trail. Designed to take children with an adult around an area in a town or city looking at art, architecture, history and other points of interest. Unlike other Children's trails there is no answer sheet, all the answers can be found by looking at the object and reading the information. You may wish to provide an insert to give some information for accompanying adults. Another possible addition could be a word search for the children to complete after the trail has been completed.

If the trail is going to take the children back to where they picked up the trail then you may like to make a completion certificate available for them.

In this section you can find examples of town trail leaflets and a template which is formatted on A4 to be folded to produce the A5 size double-sided leaflet.

Any insert and certificate will need to be produced as an A5 document.

As with other Children's Trails, 50 copies of the trail, any insert and the certificate should be handed over to the host venue together with a copy of the Creative Commons Licence - see the Creative Commons Licence section in the Main Menu for details. A memory stick containing the trail files should also be handed over to enable the venue to re-print. Publicity for the hand over should be considered to make the local community aware of the trail and your Society.
